( His diaphragm seized up. He couldn't use his arms to push himself upright, he couldn't turn his head away from the water, and his lungs had gone dead. All around, he heard them clicking and hissing. He could blink, he could move his eyes, but he couldn't shut out the blue glow that spread like lightning through his nervous system, shutting it down inch by inch. He was suffocating slowly, yet dying quickly, and then he was falling, endlessly. Waiting to land )
