MUSIC MIX

Before I post the next thing I'm almost done with, I really have to point this out.

[livejournal.com profile] wandrinparakeet (love that user name, BTW,) has made an incredibly badass fanmix for these fics. I just downloaded the whole thing now which I will listen to tomorrow. I hate when I find something awesome right before going to bed! I can already tell I'm going to love this!

It's so amazing, to know that there are songs that remind someone of something I've written. That's because writing these fics has been such a blast for me, such a roaring good time, and such a relief from the occasional craziness of RL - it necessarily means a lot to me that someone else has gotten enjoyment out of them, too. I know I say that a lot, but I mean it a lot.

I can never listen to music while I'm writing; it needs to be dead quiet. But, I do think a lot about writing certain scenes when songs come on. "Life During Wartime" got written because of the song "Life During Wartime." :D Etc.

So I absolutely know that when I listen to these songs on this list, it's going to incept me with something else. I can already tell.

THAT SAID.

I'm nearly done with the one-shot I was talking about, when was it, yesterday? Or two days ago or something? I'm going to finish it up probably after work tomorrow. Hopefully I can post it tomorrow night.

NEGL, it's really weird right now. I started it out sort of light-hearted and 'Haha, isn't that so goofy?' And then it just got darker, and darker, and darker until practically Trent Reznor was walking around in it. I don't know. I might change it up?

It's also kind of supernatural, kind of Arthur/poltergeist or Arthur/house (not the doctor, but an actual house) or maybe Arthur/past life, oh man, I have no clue. I honestly don't know wtf I am writing.

But there's Eames, and bonking, so that's kind of fun.

Anyway. There ya go! It's late. ^_^

Sweet!

I look forward to reading it.

Is that going to be separate from your "Choose your own adventure" fic? :)

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope to have it up tonight! (THAT'S WHAT HE SAID. ^_^ )

Yep, this is a separate thing. This open took me by surprise. :D

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
WTF, I meant this ONE took me by surprise. Which is funny, because I put a "predictive text" running gag in the fic, too. O_O

[identity profile] hazysea.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm excited to listen to that mix!

And I can't wait to read your new fic!!

And then it just got darker, and darker, and darker until practically Trent Reznor was walking around in it.

DO. WANT.

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, well there is no actual Trent Reznor. I was super tired when I wrote that and I was thinking about how he'd recorded The Downward Spiral in the house where the Manson murders had taken place. My brain just went "scary house... Trent Reznor." ^_^;;

I hope to post it tonight! :)

Badass fanmix, LOL, I need to listen to it. Anyway, I listened many songs during reading your fics, because there're many songs mentioned in them. Every time I read a song title I simply went on youtube and found that particular song. You really write in dead quiet? Au contraire I can't write without music, sometimes it doesn't really matter what I'm listening to, other times is a one particular song, played over and over again.
And this new fic- I can't wait! I've got this feelings is gonna be mind-blowing, with being so dark that Trent Reznor almost appears:D

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, how cool! You listened to those songs? WOW! Well, there's one song in the fic I'm posting tonight and I might include a link to it. It sounds so spooky to me and the title comes from it. Cheesy, HELL YES, I realize that. But there's something about spooky music playing in the background that really does it for me. :D

Oh wow, yes, music distracts me from everything, because it's so all encompassing. I can listen to it if I'm drawing something. But if I'm doing anything that requires words, or even thought on the form of words, I can't have music going on. A mild bit of brain disconnect, I seem to have. :D

Hehe, Trent Reznor really has absolutely nothing to do with the story. I was rambling last night. I just meant that it was getting really dark, kind of spiraling downward, and he just kind of popped into my head. :D

The house has a crush on Arthur? Well, he is the Launcher of a Thousand Ships for this fandom, so I guess it's kind of appropriate. Is there a trope for "Even Non-Living Things Want Him/Her"?

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, YES! Right? So hot even houses can't keep their shingles off of him. Ha! ^_^

[identity profile] fae-boleyn.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Eames has competition from a condominium? Oh God, premise for crack!fic right there.

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, that is so fantastic. You know he would just blow it up though.

But you know what's funny, I'm about 500 words from the end and looking back? Yeah. He is jealous of the house. O_O And it's not even cracky.

[identity profile] fae-boleyn.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Kinda creepy, that.

I can come up with cracky ideas but I can't write them. My style doesn't run to crack humor, probably because my actual sense of humor is ridiculously dry.

OH GOD. Any fic (or anything at all, for that matter) that has Trent Reznor walking around in it must inherently be amazing. Same goes for your fic! Clearly, the combination may cause me to explode and die when I read this one-shot. <3

I wasn't able to keep up with reading Glitch as it was coming out, but now I don't feel so bad because I'm going to go download the badass fanmix and listen to it while catching up! =D

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh I hope I wasn't misleading, Trent Reznor doesn't actually appear in the fic, and actually neither does any of his work. I was just thinking "scary house, dark, creepy, let's see, where does that lead my brain?" And because of the fanmix, I had music on my brain last night and he was just the first thing that popped into my head. :D

One-shot is about 10K words, I believe. Something like that. I hope to have it posted tonight, if I can. After House. ^_^ I hope you like it!

Hahahaha, no you weren't misleading, I got that it was figurative. I should've made my response clearer. But I also meant anything that has the atmosphere of something Reznor would produce is A++ for me (since I love Reznor/NIN to pieces)! <3

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, cool. :D

I do, too. I think Trent is so fantastic, the man practically invented a new form of music. And it appeals to me in so many different ways.

[identity profile] wandrinparakeet.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
I meant to say -- glad you like the username! A reference to one of my fav movies of all time, The Philadelphia Story.

Also, I almost, ALMOST put some vintage NIN on this mix. So I love the idea of a story so dark that Trent himself would feel at home. :D Looking forward to reading it!

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh such a sad movie!

oh, I often think of writing when I've got some Trent on the iPod. :D He does inspire me! I toned down a bit of the darkness in the fic, which is up presently. :D

And again, thank you for the fabulous mix! ^_^

[identity profile] wandrinparakeet.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're thinking of Philadelphia, with Tom Hanks? While I do like that movie, I'm actually referencing the 1940s one with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, & Jimmy Stewart. Most excellent banter!

I see your story is up...scurrying off to ignore my bedtime and read now...
