Hmm.

Well, crap. I was thinking of different ways to set up this request / prompty fic I was going to do, but today at work (it got boring,) I thought of a one-shot I want to write first.

I kinda incepted myself with the idea of Arthur and Eames having to spend a night in a haunted house. Like, sexytimes would get interrupted by ghosts and such. IDEK.

After I finish that one (though I haven't actually begun it yet,) then I'd like to do a kind of experiment where I have the premise of a fic*, but I'd ask you all, in a post after every chapter, to challenge me with some weird, cooked out, freaky or funny or random detail you'd like to see added into it. That'd be a real challenge, right? I wonder if I could do it.

What do you think? Could that maybe happen? After the stupid haunted house one I have in my head?

*Something to do with a long train ride, and something to do with dreamshare and scary voodoo stuff. Like I don't know, they have to extract from someone who tries to make zombies or something. IDEK. That sounds crazy even for me.

I like this plan. I very much like this plan. It totally works too, since you seem to write without anything too concrete in mind. And I mean this as a compliment, even though it's sort of going all wonky. But I love how you write, edge of my seat the entire time. And I love the idea of a long train ride. I love shit like that. :)

God, focusing on fic is like, the hardest thing to do right now. Amnesia is SO on the back burner ever since someone said on the Anon Love Meme that they liked my roadtrip verse, so now i'm about 6,0000 words into a FOURTH installment for THAT one. Like, oy vey. FOCUS, PADAWAN, FOCUS.

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww! But it happens! I can't do two fics at once, tbh. IRL, I mean outside of fics, I write the same way: with nothing concrete in mind. But I never, ever show those around until they've been finished, cleaned up a thousand times, beta'ed, edited, re-written, and edited again. I don't do that with fics. Fics, I just type them up, look at them the next day to make sure nothing is too hilariously and embarrassingly wrong with them, and put them up. It's so fun, so freeing, a little intimidating too. ^_^

I'm so, so freaking glad that you like that though, and that it works out in the end and I'm not just making a fool of myself. :D Or if I am, then it's fun.

I LOVE the love meme. It's so nice! Gotta admit, I "loved" a lot on there. ^_^

Okay, so long train ride then! Cool! :D

[identity profile] twilightthief.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
WOW-haunted house fic! I like that :)

I like the idea of "Choose your own adventure" type fic too!

What a creative idea :)

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah yeah, kind of like that! Choose your own adventure, that's sort of what I was thinking of. I'd set a premise, and a list of things I can't write (stuff I suck at, or just won't write etc.) and then just let the inception take place. :D

Yeah, I think I can do that! :)

[identity profile] twilightthief.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
DO IT! :)

I think it would be fun for all involved.

Stuff you suck at? Stuff you cant/wont write? PPFFTTT...I highly doubt that :)

I think it would be cool to start a piece and kind of pass it along to the next person and the next and so forth to keep building it. Its like something you do in writing class in like middle school but it would be fun :)

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Like a round robin! Wouldn't that be fun!

[identity profile] twilightthief.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes.
Exactly. We're on the same wavelength this morning!

I think that would be fun :)

[identity profile] neomeruru.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Can I draw on my turn? :D

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I WISH YOU WOULD. :D

I'm not clear on how turn-based I'd do it though. That's the thing, I can't really figure out how to set it up. Maybe I'll do a chapter and then be like, "Everyone give me a scene" but then I wouldn't be able to do all of them? Hmm, I haven't figured out how to set it all up yet.

But to answer your question in brief: YES. Like, A THOUSAND TIMES YES. :D

(Anonymous) 2011-02-12 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
You are a sneaky naughty minx aren't you? What gave you the haunted house idea, Tabs? You MINX you. (I say that with love.....)

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Umm. Like, things, and stuff? ^_^;;

[identity profile] efcia.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooo, it's good to hear about your plans. I'm so curious how this "haunted" fic will look like, especially because of the fact I'm not really into such things like ghosts. Nevertheless I'm going to read it, leave a constrictive critic and (hopefully) enjoy it, because it'a a crazy idea and somehow you make the craziest ones work so good.
As for the second idea- YES. Definitely yes. I'm even more curious about that!

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's actually kind of cool! his way I can get the perspective from someone who's on the outside of that interest. That will be really neat. ^_^ I think I'm going to do some kind of smutty comedy. Like pornedy. Only I can't really do porn too well so it would be mostly like NC17 lite. :)

I'm going to start writing it tonight, I think. So we'll see how it goes! :D

[identity profile] efcia.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa,a porn with ghosts, that'll be defnitely something new for me;D NC17 won't scare me, I'm definitely a grown-up girl:D And I still have a winter break and definitely too much free time, so I can promise you a decent review. So, yes, we'll see.

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly I've written one single line to it so far and then read some porn, stared at my fish tank, cooked a pizza, things like that. I'll get to this, I will! :D Tonight!

[identity profile] efcia.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I should be writting the fourth chapter of my story right now, but instead of that I also read some porn, the git stucked on tumblr and right now I'm fighting with gimp and my own inability to make any kind of photomanipulation... And it's 1:28 am right here, where I live:D

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
LOL yeah that sounds about right!

Oh, + I made and drank hot chocolate. That was really important. It def. cuts into writing time.

[identity profile] efcia.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It's well-known that hot chocolate is much more important than writing, or anything else in the whole world.
Hell, now I want to drink chocolate:D

[identity profile] we-reflamingos.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, sweetheart, after the crabs in Glitch, I believe you can do anything ;)

was that too spoilery, should I not have said that? I've changed it just in case.
Edited 2011-02-12 23:13 (UTC)

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
LMFAO! I guess you could make a case for that, hehe. ^_^ But there are certain things I totally suck at writing, so.

But I doubt there's any worry about spoilers though. :D

[identity profile] we-reflamingos.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
:D

there are certain things I totally suck at writing
Okay, so, that being said, you'd probably have to exercise a certain amount of self discipline to take on suggestions that may not necessarily appeal to you - not just the ones that do. Is the challenge of having to write them sufficient in the face of having to write them?

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well what I think I'll do is put up a list of things that I can't or won't write. For instance, I can't do AU - it doesn't inspire me. I won't/can't to non-con (too sensitive for that) or anything with kids etc.

OTOH, I hardly need to even say those things because I have a feeling that most of the people willing to play along, will be ones who already pretty much know what I write.

It's true that certain prompts might not appeal to me, but I wonder if I'll be able to turn them around and write them in such a way that will be fun for everyone.

The thing is, I have no idea how I'm going to set it up yet.

MAYBE, I'll ask for a list of prompts before I even start the fic, or maybe after the first chapter? And then check them off as I include them?

That could work?

[identity profile] we-reflamingos.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
Don't see why it wouldn't. It's your flist, you just ask them to bear with and feed back until you're sorted. That's what flists do. :D

[identity profile] hazysea.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
You know that I will read that haunted house fic and LOVE it :D

That challenge sounds really fun!

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm up to like, five paragraphs. I need to set my ass down and get about it! ^_^

[identity profile] fae-boleyn.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Haunted houses are not stupid, they are very interesting. I love haunted house stories - for this I blame Buffy and Angel (since I was seven when I started watching Buffy and I think it incepted me). :D

I think the weird idea thing is a good one; it could make for very interesting fic if all the weird ideas in our heads get mixed together.

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, I LOVE haunted house stories, like the X FIles one! Except mine's going to be pretty silly. ^_^

I'm actually looking forward to finishing this one, posting it, and then getting my act together for the train/voodoo/anything else/kitchen sink one. That could be tons of fun!

[identity profile] kapparolls.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
OOOOOOOH that is a brilliant idea :D :D :D

*g* haunted house fic....ooh O: i wish we could give you a challenge right now cuz haunted house fic gave me an idea/image

oh well, *can't wait to read* XD

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well, what's your image? I'm curious now! :D

[identity profile] kapparolls.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
well haunted houses make me think of halloween which makes me think of witches (b/c thats always what i dress up as for halloween)= arthur in a witch costume >///<'

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, OMG, that's quite a mental image. Like Wicked Witch of the West kind of costume? Why can I picture that so easily? O_O

[identity profile] kapparolls.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
i dont know what the wicked witch of the west costume looks like? :D but my image is like a black dress with a bow and the witch hat (I LOVE WITCH HATS!!!) and striped stockings and boots! and a broomstick :D lolol oh and leather gloves *g*

[identity profile] kapparolls.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
O______O ok i just googled it...if you mean the dress from the wizard of oz, NOOOO THAT IS A HIDEOUS UGLY BLACK DRESS ARTHUR IS WEARING A *CUTE* DRESS (with a short skirt) >o<

grr why is lj not posting this????

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA, OMFG. Arthur in a dress, I can't even!

Incidentally, I have so many tons of striped stockings in my own wardrobe, it isn't even true. ^_^

[identity profile] wirrrn.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 05:16 am (UTC)(link)

Neat idea. Count me in :)

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Fantastic!

[identity profile] sweetsigh.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
The haunted house sounds potentially hilarious! And Arthur tries to rationalize and say that ghosts don't exist but twitching and using ArthurThatWas language and Eames being all confused by ArthurThatWas language and being stereotypical British and shouting "Witches!" and the Winchesters come and make the ghosts go away. (*coughnosupernaturalreferencehere, what?cough*)

The train-hoodoo-necromancy(?) ficsounds interesting. Would we just give shout outs after every chapter? =D

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehee, I have no idea what the Winchesters are aside from a type of gun. :D But aside from that, you kind of got the gist of the fic! In fact you sort of incepted me with a bit of an idea that I'm tryin got retrofit into what I already wrote. What if the ghost/influence/leftover vibe from the house is all 20s gangster-ish, which is why Arthur gets all lingo-ish? Like, OMG, what if the house is trying to possess him. ^_^;;

So, I've written quite a bit of it but now I'm stalling because I have the two of them in a great big huge bed and I'm trying to write the snogging scene and I get all awkward. O_O

[identity profile] sweetsigh.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
c,lsadjnfzsdb. The Winchester brothers are from a show called Supernatural. It's awesome and hilarious and just about my favorite show ever. No I'm not obsessed! >.> *cough*

Oh god, Al Capone tries to possess him. What a great thought. XD And Eames can't understand what anyone's saying.

And while they're in the huge bed and snogging, the ghosts are watching intently. Now that is awkward.

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, you have no idea how close you're coming with these guesses. ^_^;;

[identity profile] sparrow-hubris.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
You already integrate so well people's comments into your fiction. I mean, maybe not specific ideas, but general observations.

I think it would be a great challenge and probably a successful one if you tried. But you would have to be choosy. Not every idea is great and it could become a giant clusterfuck if you put in everyone's two cents.

[identity profile] sho-no-tabi.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Good point, good point. I probably couldn't fit every little thing into it, whether the ideas were awesome or not. Then it'd just be a kitchen-sink-fic. So maybe I'll just ask straight up in the beginning for little scenes, small ones. Things that will fit. Like, "Oh, I'd love it if somehow, I don't now, the smell of orange blossoms was in the fic" instead of, "And then they have sex on a moving tractor in a corn field."

Maybe more like details than plot points?

[identity profile] sparrow-hubris.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I think to start that would be a good idea to be vague. And between chapters think readers could get more specific to the story arc. You'd still have to be a choose carefully. But if your readers know your writing style, it's likely they'll prompt things that will work.
